IV orders created can have patient specific labels printed for use in BCMA.
Determine if IV Labels were generated:
1. Within Inpatient Order Entry choose the IV order needed, and then select Label History from the Activity Log. If an IV Label was printed, the information about the label will be present.

2. The Label information can also be obtained from BCMA.
a. From the IVP/IVPB tab, right-click on the order and select Available Bags option. The pop-up window will show bags that are available and how many.
b. From the IV tab, highlight the IV order. In the IV Bag Chronology box, bottom left hand corner, will show bags that are available.

BCMA IV Site Parameters determining availability of IV Labels:
The BCMA IV Site Parameters govern the IV Labels to determine if the label is acceptable or not according to what field is changed in Order Entry. The parameters can be for the entire facility or individual wards. Also, these parameters can be set for the following IV Types:
Within the prompts, 3 options can be made, along with the fields marked with an asterisk in Order Entry, changes made to the order can affect the label. Those options are:
The edits can be seen from Inpatient Order Entry, within the Activity Log. This can be used to determine if the edit caused the IV Label to become invalid. In the example below, the Infusion Rate field was changed. If the prompt is set to Warning, a pop-up will appear stating which field was changed. Or, if the prompt is set to Invalid Bag, the IV Label will not scan.
