A dosage can be added to the Dispense Drug so that when selected during order entry in Inpatient Order Entry or CareVue, the dosage will translate with the correct units to dispense. This will also help when transferring orders from inpatient to outpatient, that way the dosage will show correctly. Please see below how to add a new dosage for a Dispense Drug.

When ordering in CareVue, the newly created dosage will show for the user to select.
After entering the order in CareVue, the order in Inpatient Order Entry will show the dosage and units needed for the order.
Once the order is ready for verification, the U/D shows the correct number to make the dose.
The order in CareVue will show the new dosage and how many units will be needed for the order.
By having a correct dosage built it will populate over in CareVue to an appropriate form of the medication and how many units are needed, if it needs to be transferred to outpatient. Notice the outpatient order shows Keppra 750mg Take 2 tabs. This is due to there being a Keppra 750mg setup in the Drug File with a Dispense Unit Per Dose of 2. Since the Keppra 500mg had a new dosage of 1500mg added, it will translate the dosages among others if they are built and active.
The outpatient order in CareVue will show the medication needed and how much will need to be dispensed for the order.
