This is a simple explanation on how to share ROOM-BEDs with multiple wards. In the example below you can see that ROOM-BED 108-1 and 108-2 are shared between CB-MEDICAL and CB-TRANS. Originally there was a blanket entry for HL7 Code that would have covered both, which isn’t correct (see highlighted).
Select ROOM-BED NAME: 108
1 108-1
WARD(S): CB-MEDICAL
CB-TRANS
2 108-2
WARD(S): CB-MEDICAL
CB-TRANS
CHOOSE 1-2: 1 108-1
WARD(S): CB-MEDICAL
CB-TRANS
NAME: 108-1//
DESCRIPTION: SEMI-PRIVATE//
Select WARD(S) WHICH CAN ASSIGN: CB-TRANS//
WARD(S) WHICH CAN ASSIGN: CB-TRANS//
HL7 CODE:
Select WARD(S) WHICH CAN ASSIGN: CB-MEDICAL
…OK? Yes// (Yes)
WARD(S) WHICH CAN ASSIGN: CB-MEDICAL//
HL7 CODE:
Select WARD(S) WHICH CAN ASSIGN:
Select OUT-OF-SERVICE DATE:
HL7 CODE: CB.MED^CB108^1// >> This needs to be deleted
What needs to happen is the blanket entry needs to be deleted because otherwise that code would be for both which wouldn’t be correct. Then the proper code needs to be added for each specialty on each bed as seen in the example below. We are going to change 108-1 in the example below:
Select ROOM-BED NAME: 108
1 108-1
WARD(S): CB-MEDICAL
CB-TRANS
2 108-2
WARD(S): CB-MEDICAL
CB-TRANS
CHOOSE 1-2: 1 108-1
WARD(S): CB-MEDICAL
CB-TRANS
NAME: 108-1//
DESCRIPTION: SEMI-PRIVATE//
Select WARD(S) WHICH CAN ASSIGN: CB-TRANS// >> We can choose CB-TRANS or CB-MEDICAL
WARD(S) WHICH CAN ASSIGN: CB-TRANS// >> We chose CB-TRAN
HL7 CODE: CB.TRA^CB108^1 >> Here the correct HL7 Code is entered for CB-TRANS
Select WARD(S) WHICH CAN ASSIGN: CB-MEDICAL >> Now we want to change CB-MEDICAL
…OK? Yes// (Yes)
WARD(S) WHICH CAN ASSIGN: CB-MEDICAL//
HL7 CODE: CB.MED^CB108^1 >> Here the correct HL7 Code is entered for CB-MEDICAL
Select WARD(S) WHICH CAN ASSIGN: <Hit return key>
Select OUT-OF-SERVICE DATE:
HL7 CODE: CB.MED^CB108^1// @ >> Here we delete the blanket HL7 Code
SURE YOU WANT TO DELETE? Y (Yes)
